Dame Hung Tsz Ching: The resilience, pragmatism, and sense of duty in the bones of Chaoshan people have accompanied me all the way. Adversity taught me to keep my feet on the ground and walk toward the light, and I have always kept in mind: the greater the ability, the greater the responsibility.

Li Hongmei: You have laid out diversified industries and cultivated markets at home and abroad. What is distinctive about your business thinking?

Dame Hung Tsz Ching: I have always moved with the times—following the direction of the era and national development, rooted in real industry, embracing science and innovation, and deepening culture. The Chaoshan creed of integrity first and balancing righteousness with profit is my confidence in walking the international business world, and it keeps me insistent that commercial value and social value advance together.

Li Hongmei: For many years you have devoted yourself to philanthropy and fulfilled your duties. How do you view charity and responsibility?

Dame Hung Tsz Ching: Those who receive from others should always keep gratitude in their hearts. Charity is not a formality, but a commitment from the heart. Holding multiple roles is, in essence, shouldering responsibility: running enterprises to create value, practising philanthropy to pass on warmth, and standing in one’s post to give back to family and country.

Li Hongmei: As a representative Chaoshan businesswoman of the new era, what message do you have for the next generation?

Dame Hung Tsz Ching: May young women hold to their original aspirations, stand on integrity, be independent and self-reliant, and keep great love in their hearts. Chase ideals bravely, and with gentle yet firm strength, live as yourselves and take on meaningful responsibility.
